I woke up at 8:15 to go to the bathroom and couldn't fall back asleep due to a dog at another campsite constantly barking. I laid in bed on my phone for about an hour and a half, I couldn't take the rumble in my stomach any longer. I got up, tried to be as quiet as possible in a motorhome where everything you do is loud and planned out a breakfast. I gathered some cheese Danish from the fridge, homemade peach bread from Georgia, homemade peach marmalade, fresh raspberries, and fresh blackberries. By this time Papa had gotten up and Nana followed, you guys slept late practically 10:00-wish I did! Nana told me to put some of the Coffeemate on my berries and I am glad I did, everything was great. After lounging around, blogging, and taking care of some stuff; Papa and I decided to go to lunch, and run some errands. First we went to Petco to get more dog food and I debated a lizard hiking companion. After, we headed to Byers St Bistro and sat outside. Staunton; another great town! It reminded us of a small Boston, the buildings were so old but the town was hip. I ordered a glass of Moscato and a fried green tomato sandwich with a side of coleslaw. The wine was great, and my lunch was too! We got a fried green tomato and macaroni salad to go for Nana. After lunch we headed to the Food Lion; we got steaks to cook tonight, eggs, waters, stuff to make sandwiches, and some snacks. This whole slack packing experience is going to be amazing. I get to carry a small pack with only food and water; I get to make a real sandwich for lunch instead of packets of tuna or peanut butter tortillas, I get to bring all kinds of snacks like Cheetos, and I get to come back to family every night to shower and eat real food for dinner. Spoiled thruhiking! Once we got back; I aired out all of my gear, planned out my Cheetos for 3 days, put my big pack back together, cut my knuckle pretty good with my knife, and packed my daypack. I threw the steaks on the grill while Nana made corn and baked beans, dinner was great! Everything is packed and ready for tomorrow, I feel like Rocky; I get to travel light and bring luxurious items like a sandwich and Gatorade! I made my sandwich so tomorrow I just have to put some mayonnaise on it and be good to go. See below my genius bread-saver invention, goodnight all 800 mile marker tomorrow hoorah!
